Moreover, studies have found that individuals with arthritis are at a 61% higher risk of developing diabetes than those without the condition. Type-2 diabetes can aggravate the condition further. Processed and red meat Red meats like pork, beef and lamb, and other processed meats, including sausages and bacon, are known to cause inflammation in the body, worsening arthritis symptoms. Hence, persons with arthritis should steer clear of red and processed meats, substituting them with lean meat sources like poultry and venison.
